Always moving
Every child is hitting, putting, moving, helping or retrieving. No long lines.
For parents
Birdie Tots is a fast, playful after-school golf program for elementary students. No standing in lines, no pressure, just a child who’s moving, laughing and proud of what they can do.
The Birdie Tots promise
Kids learn real golf fundamentals without standing in lines. Every class should feel fast, playful and positive, so your child leaves asking when golf starts again.
We understand
You’re looking for an activity that’s fun, safe and good for them, one they’re excited to go to and not one they quietly want to quit. Birdie Tots uses games, targets and stories so learning golf feels like play.
Every child is hitting, putting, moving, helping or retrieving. No long lines.
Praise for effort, bravery and teamwork. Kids compete against their own personal best.
Choosing a target, putting, chipping, full swings and playing a hole.
The Par session
Every week has a theme, one idea to remember and a simple game to try at home.
Week 1 of 8
Kids learn safe club handling, a simple athletic setup and the fun of making the ball move toward a target.
“Hold it. Get ready. Swing to the target.”
Try at home: Roll or toss a ball toward a laundry basket. Ask your child to choose the target before every try.
Week 2 of 8
Kids work on solid contact and letting the club brush the ground so the ball can launch. The goal is confidence, not a technically perfect swing.
“Brush the grass and send it up.”
Try at home: Place a towel on the floor as an “island.” Toss soft balls onto it from different distances.
Week 3 of 8
Kids learn the most important habit in golf: choose a target before you swing. They practice starting the ball toward gates and colored targets.
“Pick a target. Point the clubface. Go!”
Try at home: Make two shoes into a gate and roll a ball through it. Make the gate smaller as your child improves.
Week 4 of 8
Kids start the ball on line and learn how hard to roll it, using lots of mini-golf style games to build touch.
“Aim it. Rock it.”
Try at home: Use a plastic cup on its side as a hole. Putt or roll a ball from 3, 5 and 8 feet.
Week 5 of 8
Kids are introduced to chipping with a small swing and a landing spot, and discover that short shots can fly a little and then roll.
“Small swing. Brush the grass. Let it roll.”
Try at home: Toss a sock ball onto a towel and see how close it stops to a cup. Move the towel to change the challenge.
Week 6 of 8
Kids get to really swing, working on balance, turning and creating speed. The competition is against their own personal best, not the other kids.
“Turn. Swing. WHOOSH!”
Try at home: With no ball, make five slow practice swings and five “whoosh” swings. Finish balanced like a statue.
Week 7 of 8
Kids connect their skills into actual golf. They learn the basic flow of a hole (tee, fairway, green and hole) while making simple decisions.
“Tee. Fairway. Green. Hole.”
Try at home: Draw a golf hole together. Let your child show where the tee, fairway, green and hole should go.
Week 8 of 8
Kids celebrate completing the Par session. Graduation is based on finishing the program, not passing a test. Parents are invited to the finish.
“Play. Cheer. Celebrate.”
Try at home: Ask your child to show you their favorite game or golf skill from the session, and celebrate eight weeks of playing golf.
Safety first
Our rule is simple: safety first, contact second, enjoyment always.
What comes next
Each session is eight weeks. Skills become more advanced as your child moves up, but progress stays encouraging and participation-based.
Session 1
Where every golfer starts: eight weeks of playful fundamentals.
Session 2
The next session. Skills get more advanced while progression stays encouraging.
Session 3
The session after Birdie. Skills keep building.
Session 4
The session after Eagle. Skills keep building.
Questions
Each 45-minute class is built around games. Kids warm up, learn one simple idea, play two skill stations, join a big group game and finish with a challenge and a celebration. They’re moving the whole time.
No. Week 1 starts with safe club handling and a simple athletic setup, and games are adjusted for each child by changing the target size and distance.
No. Children advance by completing the session, not by passing a skill test. Graduation is a celebration, and every child who completes the session moves from Par to Birdie.
Safety comes first in every class. We use marked hitting boxes where only one child swings, a “club down” signal whenever the instructor is talking, controlled ball retrieval and limited-flight balls.
We change the game, not the child. Instructors make targets bigger or closer, and praise effort, bravery and teamwork, so every child has a way to succeed.
